Real Estate offices use FileMaker databases to track home and commercial real estate sales. In addition to the expected need to track sales and commissions for each agent, the database needed to allow the owner to change the commission "split" on a sales-by-sales basis, while retaining the cumulative sales volume on which the split was based.

This real estate office, like many other similar offices, assigns different sales commission rates to their agents which are only partially based on their annual sales volume. Each agent's sales performance was tracked in a FileMaker database. The greater challenge was re-designing the database to allow the broker to change the sales commission rate on the fly, after the start of the year. The database was required to retain enough historical data to insure that each agent's gross sales commissions are recorded and used in subsequent calculations using different splits. |
